Jewish News is very excited to announce the launch on Monday of a brand new online section dedicated to the Jewish lesbian, gay, bisexual and transexual (LGBT) community.

As a newspaper, we strive to reflect and celebrate all segments of the UK Jewish community, which is why we’re committed to making this important step. In partnership with Hot Salt Beef, the J-LGBT section will go live this Monday, 23 June – five days before London Gay Pride 2014.

The online section will contain a diverse range of J-LGBT+ news, opinion, features and blogs from individuals and community organisations.

Leading human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell applauded the move, saying “Congratulations to Jewish News on the launch of its new online LGBT section.

“This is an important recognition of the valued contribution made by LGBT Jews to both the LGBT and Jewish communities. It signals that Jewish LGBT news, culture, events and issues are taken seriously. Bravo!”

Chief Executive of Liberal Judaism Rabbi Danny Rich joined Tatchell in welcoming the new section. “A pioneering community newspaper ensures it covers the news, events and views emanating from all parts of the community.

I applaud the decision to launch a section dedicated to the Jewish LGBT community. Not only do its members have much to say, and something to teach, but the wisdom and experience of LGBT Jews has been absent from the Jewish community’s consciousness.
Allan Davis, CEO of Hot Salt Beef said, “I couldn’t be happier. This is a fantastic show of solidarity that not only gives the Jewish LGBT community a voice in a mainstream media platform, but also serves as a welcome endorsement of equality.”
