Diego Schwartzman comprehensively booked his place in the second round of the Rogers Cup in Toronto after he ruthlessly beat Kyle Edmund on Tuesday morning.

The Argentine, who’s ranked 12 in the world, took exactly one hour to beat the 16th seed Englishman, 6-1, 6-2, in a one-sided affair.

Starting how he meant to go own, breaking Edmund in his first service game, Schwartzman won the next three, before breaking again in the sixth.

Edmund rarely threatened a comeback and was 2-2 in the second set before Schwartzman took the next four games. He will next face either Sam Querrey or Adrian Mannarino for a place in the third round.
