Diego Schwartzman through to fourth round at French Open

Top-ranked Jewish tennis player next faces the sixth seed Kevin Anderson for a place in the quarter-finals

Diego Schwartzman has reached the fourth round of the French Open for the first time in his career.

The Argentine, is currently ranked 12th in the world, and booked his place in the last 16 by beating Croatian Borna Ćorić 7-5, 6-3, 6-3 in just over two and a half hours.

Still yet to drop a set at Roland Garros, the 25-year-old next faces the South African sixth seed, Kevin Anderson, with the winner likely face to Rafael Nadal in the quarter-finals.

Schwartzman’s fifth appearance at this tournament, yesterday’s win saw him reach the last 16 for the first time, and a victory on Monday will see him equal his best ever showing at a Grand Slam.

Elsewhere, Camila Giorgi failed to reach the fourth round of the women’s singles, losing a marathon match to the tenth seed, Sloan Stephens, 4-6, 6-1, 8-6. the Italian twice spurned the chance to serve out for the match
