Director of Finance and Operations (DFO)

Immanuel College has grown enormously over recent years and now educates some 700 children and young people, employs 150+ adults and has a turnover of nearly 13m. The school’s sole purpose is to help the children to be successful, joyful learners and to lead fulfilled lives. The College has built a strong reputation and, with demonstrably impressive ‘added value’, has exceeded expectations in terms of its exam results although not at the expense of the pupil’s welfare, which has continued as a central pillar of its approach.

Following this period of growth and educational advancement, Immanuel College is now on the cusp of a period of development which will include a substantial building and refurbishment programme over the next five years. The Director of Finance and Operations will therefore play a pivotal role in helping the Governing Body and the Head to realise their long-term objectives for the future development of Immanuel College. Working in close support of the Head, the DFO will act strategically and commercially as the facilitator of these aims working in a way which builds trust and confidence across the school community whilst building and leading a team of capable colleagues to manage the non-teaching functions of the school.

The successful candidate will bring a proven track record of successfully managing finance and other operational resources, as well as the delivery and implementation of significant organisational change. A commitment to the values and mission of the College and a collaborative and enabling style of leadership will be key elements. Applications are encouraged from candidates with significant educational experience, business or public sector backgrounds, who bring a high level of commercial acumen, a proven track record of change management and a genuine passion for education.
