The executive director of Mitzvah Day is to become chief executive of the UK branch of ORT, the Jewish educational organisation.

Dan Rickman, who previously worked as head of fundraising at Magen David Adom (MDA), will take over from Adam Overlander-Kaye, who is moving to head up fundraising at Jewish Care.

After three years at Mitzvah Day, Rickman said he would continue to don the green T-shirt every November, after the charity celebrates its tenth anniversary next month.

Mitzvah Day founder Laura Marks said the charity – like its outgoing director – was now moving into “the next phase of its life”.

Rickman said: “I am proud of everything I have achieved, but in particular, taking our number of interfaith projects to over 100 and increasing out international presence to over 30 counties, launching this year in Rwanda, South Africa and Latin America.”

ORT UK chairman Simon Alberga said: “We are thrilled to welcome Dan to the team. His experience will be invaluable as he embarks on his new position and I am confident he will successfully lead our continued growth and development.”
