Disobedience trailer: Rachel Weisz stars in film about forbidden love in the Orthodox community

Movie shot partially on the streets of north-west London tackles the boundaries of faith and sexuality

The trailer has been released for a new film – Disobedience – about forbidden love within the Orthodox community, partially filmed on the streets of Jewish north-west London.

The film, scheduled to be released in the UK on May 4, follows Ronit (Rachel Weisz) who returns home following the death of her father and rekindles a romance with her best friend Esti (Rachel McAdams), who is now married to her cousin.

McAdams researched her role by visiting Hasmonean School for Girls in Mill Hill to speak to the students, while both co-stars were spotted on the streets of Edgware in 2017 filming the movie.

Directed by Sebastián Lelio and co-produced by Weisz, the film is the screen adaptation of Naomi Alderman’s debut novel from 2006.
