DNA and Jess Robinson wow judges in BGT auditions

While one Jewish act left the Britain’s Got Talent judges in stitches, another had them completely mystified.

Impressionist Jess Robinson and mind-reading duo DNA both flew through their auditions, broadcast on Saturday night, and are now hoping to secure a place in the live semi-finals of the popular ITV talent show.

DNA, comprising Andrew Murray and Darren [who asked for his surname not to be published], from Essex, left their audience gasping in amazement as they performed a series of seemingly impossible tricks, including guessing a phone number and contact from judge Amanda Holden’s phone.

They also managed to correctly guess the number of a house, colour of a wall and a celebrity calendar that Simon Cowell had been asked to randomly think of.

But their piece de resistance saw them change from their camouflage t-shirts from the start of the audition into black t-shirts by the end – supposedly within the blink of an eye.

Meanwhile talented Robinson, 33, from north London, who works with children with special needs, showed off her impressive vocal skills with an eclectic medley of impersonations.

The Edgware-born performer, who took to the stage and confessed, “I’m so nervous, it’s stupid”, took a deep breath and kicked off her audition with the opening to Shirley Bassey’s Goldfinger, before seamlessly switching to Julie Andrews and the theme from Sound of Music.

Robinson, who is the grand-daughter of late jazz pianist Jules Ruben, then effortlessly slipped into Britney Spears, before causing Simon Cowell to grin with her striking impression of Sharon Osbourne.

She left the audience gasping as she switched again to an operatic style with her mimicry of Katherine Jenkins and there were more laughs with her droll impression of Cheryl Cole.

Robinson, whose vocal talents have been used on the popular children’s show Horrible Histories, as well as adverts for The Disney Channel, Cartoon Network and CBeebies, ended her audition with a robust impression of Liza Minnelli singing Cabaret.
