Duke and Duchess of Cambridge wished mazeltov on birth of baby boy!

Chief Rabbi leads congratulations to the Royal couple after Kate and William welcome the latest addition to the family

The Jewish community has wished congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge upon the birth of their third child.

Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis led tributes to the Royal couple, after they welcomed a baby son to the world on Monday.

The new prince arrived at 11.01am, weighing 8lb 7oz, Kensington Palace announced.

“Congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and to the entire Royal Family on the birth of a beautiful baby boy!” Chief Rabbi Mirvis tweeted. “We wish their Royal Highnesses many years of joy from their new son. May he be a source of blessing for our country all the days of his life. Mazaltov!”

Reform Judaism’s Senior Rabbi Laura Janner-Klausner and Liberal Judaism’s Director of Strategy and Partnerships Rabbi Charley Baginsky wished the Royal couple hearty congratulations on behalf of Britain’s Progressive Jewish movements.

They said: “The birth of a child reminds us of the miracle of life and the many opportunities for optimism. We wish the couple, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and all the Royal Family, mazel tov.”

The Board of Deputies tweeted: “A hearty mazal tov to the Duke and and Duchess of Cambridge on the birth of a baby”.

Simon Johnson, Chief Executive of the Jewish Leadership Council, wished the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge “a hearty mazal tov on the arrival of their new baby boy. It is wonderful and joyous news and the whole community celebrates with Their Royal Highnesses.”

The Zionist Federation added their mazeltov: “Wishing mum and baby & all the family well. We hope the Prince enjoys his visit to Israel this year as one of the best places in the world to raise a family!”

Former chief rabbi Lord Sacks said on Twitter: “Elaine and I wish the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and the entire Royal Family a huge mazaltov on the birth of a baby boy! We hope you get much nachas from him and may he bring you much joy.

Israel’s president Reuven Rivlin also sent his congratulations on behalf of the Jewish state, saying: Mazal Tov! Congratulations to TRH the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge on the birth of their son Royal Baby. Together with Nechama, and all the Israeli people, I send warmest wishes to Her Majesty the Queen, & all the Royal Family. Looking forward to welcoming the Duke to Israel soon.”

Israel’s envoy to the UK Mark Regev offered “a very hearty Mazal Tov to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge following the wonderful news of the birth of their new son.”

The baby is fifth in line to the throne, the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh’s sixth great-grandchild and a younger sibling of Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
