Duo defeated as Sela continues Olympics build-up

Amir Weintraub and Julia Glushko both beaten in pre-tournament qualifiers.

Julia Glushko failed to reach the first round of the WTA event in Stanford

Julia Glushko and Amir Weintraub both suffered disappointing defeats on Sunday evening as they failed to qualify for the main draw of this week’s ATP and WTA events.

Glushko was looking to qualify for the main round of the WTA Singles event in Stanford, though the Israeli, fell to American, Asia Muhammad, who’s ranked more than 60 places below here (197), 6-2, 6-3.

Over in Washington, Weintraub, who’s ranked 216 in the world, was beaten by American Ryan Harrison (158) 6-4, 6-3, 

Dudi Sela will though be in action in the first round in Washington, where he faces a first round match against American teenager Taylor Fritz. Sela, who is continuing his build-up to next month’s Olympic Games, goes into the tournament on the back of a quarter-final exit at the Hall of Fame Tennis Championships in Newport. Fritz currently sits one place above Sela in the world rankings, in 64th place.
