Fifty sponsored walkers aged eight to 80 have raised vital funds for Ukrainian refugees.

The “Walk an Hour in their Shoes” event, organised by Edgware and Hendon Reform Synagogue, raised more than £1,000 and was led by rabbis Mark Goldsmith and Debbie Young-Somers.

The walkers also heard from Rabbi Tanya Sakhnovitch, who is currently residing in Warsaw after escaping from Kyiv in the early stages of the conflict.

Rabbi Goldsmith said: “Ever since Putin’s invasion of Ukraine on 24 February, there has been a sense of helplessness that there is so little we can do from London to make a difference.

“That is why our event felt so powerful.”
