Emergency appeal launched to help victims of Golders Green crash

An emergency fundraising appeal has been set up to help pay for the rehabilitation of those injured when an out-of-control car mounted the pavement in Golders Green and ploughed into Pesach shoppers.

Friends and family have set up a crowdfunding page online, with £6,500 of the £100,000 target pledged in the first few hours.

The two injured men were identified as David Richards, 45, a cashier at Menachems’ Kosher Butcher and Deli, who was on his way to work on Wednesday morning, and Rabbi Elkouby, 80, who was also struck by the silver Jaguar.

Richards, who took the full force of the impact, suffered significant trauma injuries, including two broken legs and a broken arm. Elkouby sustained injuries to his hip.

The fundraising page, which was set up by Carol-Ann Bendahan, reads: “As you all may be aware of the tragic Golders Green car accident on 28 March, we are raising funds for those injured to take care of their medical needs and after-care when they leave hospital.”
