Volunteers from Israel’s search and rescue service are teaming up with Israel’ emergency service Magen David Adom in a “far-reaching” collaboration to increase the number of trained first-responders.

In an announcement this week, ZAKA and MDA said they had signed a Memorandum of Understanding on operational cooperation of “great importance”.

ZAKA volunteers who have undergone the required training will now be able to download the MDA app and will join the thousands of community first responders dispatched to save lives at incidents around the country.

ZAKA Chairman Yehuda Meshi-Zahav: “I welcome the decision to cooperate with MDA and I am sure that the results will be far-reaching and save lives among the Israeli public.”

MDA Director-General Eli Bin: “There is great importance in working shoulder to shoulder and with operational cooperation with ZAKA which deals with Chesed shel Emet that will help save lives.”
