The community’s leading employment hub has launched a free telephone and video support service for those on furlough, recently laid off or worried about their employment prospects.

“We are finding that right now, in these terrible lockdown times, there is a huge scale of worry across all sorts of work situations,” said Resource’s chief executive officer Victoria Sterman on Friday.

She said: “People who have been laid off, self-employed whose business evaporated overnight, those who have been furloughed and are deeply concerned about their future prospects, and even those who may still be in work but are unsure for how long.

“These are all people for whom a conversation with one of our experienced professionals can make all the difference.   Above all, they need help quickly, exactly why we have launched this rapid response service to be able to precisely do that.   It’s easy to arrange and costs nothing.”

But the charity executive added that despite growing concerns about the labour market, “there are jobs out there and Resource are able to help find them.”
