Entries pour in for 2019 Jewish Schools Awards

Nearly 200 entries have already been received for this year’s Jewish Schools Awards.

A joint project between Jewish News and Partnerships for Jewish Schools (PaJeS), the event aims to shine a light on the true heroes of primary and secondary school education and is now among the highest profile communal events. This year’s ceremony, the fourth annual ceremony, will take place at JW3 on 11 February.

New categories for 2019 will recognise excellence in Israel education, initiatives in art and literacy, and chesed (loving kindness).

Acknowledging the importance of a child’s early and later development, the judges will for the first time consider nominees for outstanding practice in the foundation stage in a primary school, as well as excellence in facilitating student responsibility for older children.

As with previous years, each 2019 winner will be given £5,000 for a project of his or her choice that will benefit their school in some way. Runners-up receive £1,000.

PaJeS director Rabbi David Meyer said: “We look forward to receiving nominations from the whole community and to showcasing the wonderful accomplishments of the staff in our schools.”

Nominations can be made through the websites of PaJeS or Jewish News until 31 October.
