Burnham Ramblers coach George Borg has been handed a suspension and fine by the FA after being found guilty of aggravated misconduct following an incident last August when he was alleged to have told Wingate & Finchley fans:  “Hitler is going to get you”.

In charge of Enfield Town at the time of the incident, the club sacked him within hours of the defeat. While Borg maintained he didn’t say that, he did admit to making a similar remark. Following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing, Borg is is now suspended from all football and football related activity until Ramblers have completed five first team matches in approved competitions. This suspension, however, is stayed until Mr Borg has received the written reasons for this decision and his period to appeal has expired.

Mr Borg was alleged to have used abusive and/or indecent and/or insulting words towards Wingate and Finchley FC supporters, contrary to Rule E3(1), and it was further alleged that this breach of Rule E3(1) was an “Aggravated Breach” as defined in Rule E3(2), as it included a reference to ethnic origin, and/or race, and/or religion or belief.

Mr Borg denied the charge and requested a personal hearing at which the Independent Regulatory Commission found the charge proven. In addition, Mr Borg was fined £275 and ordered to complete an education programme.
