A bus crash in the West Bank has left a 19-year-old IDF soldier dead – and injured over 40 people.

The female soldier, named locally as Corporal Stav Partush, was killed after the bulletproof IDF bus overturned between the settlements of Rimonim and Kohav HaShahar on Route 458.

Police said the driver lost control of the vehicle, which subsequently left the road.

Rescue workers from Magen David Adom said 42 other passengers were injured – one seriously, three moderately, and the rest lightly.

ZAKA volunteers work to clear the site

Victims were rushed to hospitals in central Israel by road and air ambulances.

Eyewitness Benzi Oring, Jerusalem commander of volunteer emergency response group ZAKA, said the victim’s remains had yet to be cleared from the site – and that the cause of the accident remains unknown.

Route 458 remains closed to traffic in both directions.
