Finchley and Golders Green MP Mike Freer has been given a significant new role within the Foreign Office.

In an announcement made on Tuesday, Freer was confirmed as Parliamentary Under Secretary of State (Minister for Equalities) at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.

The role, in addition to his position as Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for International Trade, means he will have an opportunity to offer advice to new Foreign Secretary Liz Truss, who replaced Dominic Raab in last week’s cabinet reshuffle.

The Tory MP – who is a strong supporter of Israel – will also support Minister of State for Equalities Kemi Badenoch MP.

Freer has been the Finchley and Golders Green MP since 2010.
