Six killed, more than 20 injured in Jerusalem terror shooting at Ramot Junction
Four victims were declared dead at the scene, two later died in hospital; over 20 others were wounded
Six people have been killed and more than 20 others injured in a shooting attack at Ramot Junction in northern Jerusalem on Monday morning, Israeli authorities confirmed.
Magen David Adom (MDA), Israel’s national emergency service, said four victims were pronounced dead at the scene. A fifth later died at Shaare Zedek Medical Centre, and a sixth succumbed to their wounds at Hadassah Hospital Mount Scopus.
Paramedics said they treated casualties at the roadside and near a bus stop after attackers opened fire on passengers travelling on the 62-bus line. Those injured included people in critical and moderate condition, with victims evacuated to hospitals across the capital. Several others sustained lighter injuries from shattered glass.
MDA later confirmed the victims included a man and a woman in their 50s, three men in their 30s and one other person. One of the dead has been named as Levi Yitzhak Pash.
Israeli police described the incident as a “terror attack”, confirming that two assailants were “neutralised” at the scene by armed security personnel. All major entry and exit points in Jerusalem were temporarily closed as officers secured the area and launched searches to ensure no additional suspects were involved.
An MDA spokesperson said emergency teams arrived within minutes: “We saw people lying unconscious on the pavement and began providing life-saving treatment while evacuating others under fire.”
Hospitals later reported that a woman in her seventies was in serious condition, while younger victims – including a man in his twenties and another in his forties – were being treated for gunshot wounds.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened an emergency security meeting and later visited the scene to offer condolences.
Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis called the attack a “profound desecration of our common humanity,” adding:
“Our hearts are broken by the devastating loss of life this morning in Jerusalem, where two terrorists opened fire on civilians at a busy bus stop.
Five people were murdered and seven are seriously wounded. Hamas has hailed the attack as a ‘heroic operation’.
Once again, this deliberate targeting of innocents lays bare the utter depravity of those who teach that such acts are praiseworthy and even holy. They are a profound desecration of our common humanity and must be condemned in the strongest possible terms by all decent people.
We pray for a speedy recovery for the injured, and we mourn alongside the families of those who were mercilessly killed. May their memories be for an eternal blessing.”
The attack caused chaos at one of the city’s busiest junctions, with traffic halted and large numbers of emergency responders deployed.
It is the deadliest in Jerusalem in months and comes amid heightened security concerns across Israel.
