Four Israeli companies to invest millions in Wales creating 100 jobs

Four Israeli companies have said they will invest millions of pounds into South Wales in a growth plan due to create around 100 new jobs.

Orbotech, which makes semiconductor equipment, will employ 30 people in Newport in its research and development unit, after a £4.6 million grant. Sapiens, which supplies software to the insurance industry, wants to grow its Cardiff workforce. Amiad Water Systems, which works in treatment and filtration, chose Swansea for its first UK base, where up to ten people will be based. And Lordan has poured £1 million into its Hengoed base, where it make heat exchangers. 

The announcements came as an Israeli business delegation toured the region and met local lawmakers. 

British Ambassador to Israel David Quarrey said: “I am certain ties between the two markets will continue to deepen, a collaboration that will benefit both sides.” 

Welsh Government Economy Minister Edwina Hart said: “I am delighted that Wales is proving to be such an attractive location for advanced technology companies from Israel and that we are seeing new investment as well as significant on-going reinvestment. It is a strong endorsement.”
