“Free Palestine” graffiti scrawled overnight on Golders Green bridges

CST says defacements 'appear to be a deliberate attempt to intimidate the Jewish community' and call for immediate police investigation

Activists have scrawled ‘Free Palestine’ and ‘Palestine will be free” on the main bridges over Golders Green station in north London.

The graffiti was pictured by Jewish commuters en route to work this morning.

It comes as British government ministers have said displays of support for Hamas in the UK are “repugnant” and urged police action against people celebrating the attack on Israel.

A spokesperson from CST tells Jewish News:

“This appears to be a deliberate attempt to intimidate the Jewish community. It is disgraceful and should be roundly condemned by all sides. We expect the police to fully investigate because this cannot be allowed to continue.”

A spokesperson from Barnet Council tells Jewish News that they “are aware of these incidents. The land is actually TfL (Transport for London) so we have been in touch with them to ensure it gets cleared as soon as possible. The leader of the council will also be putting out a statement later today.”
