London Faith groups unite for Global climate change vigils

Londoners from across a diverse range of religious groups participated in a Global vigil outside Downing Street, calling on David Cameron to heed the call to join with world leaders and make swift and bold action on climate change.

The London vigil was one of over 50 vigils taking place across the world under the banner of #LightForLIMA.

They were sparked by the multi-faith campaign OurVoices, bringing together people from a diverse range of faith and spiritual traditions, to put pressure on world leaders currently gathering at climate talks in Lima.

Shehroze Khan, 23, from MADE in Europe, a Muslim youth group, performed spoken word poetry at the event. Shehroze said that “I’m here to show my support for a safe and liveable planet… I see this as part of my duty as a Muslim, but also as a British citizen, and as a global citizen who cares that people in vulnerable countries around the world..”
