Report unearths examples of 'extreme antisemitism' in the Islamic Human Rights Commission
A group backed by Jeremy Corbyn is “permeated at every level” by extreme antisemitism and should be probed by counter terror police, a report has found.
The study by right-wing think-tank the Henry Jackson Society found examples of “extreme antisemitism” in the Islamic Human Rights Commission (IHRC).
The IHRC runs the annual Al-Quds Day protest, due to take place this Sunday, at which Hamas and Hezbollah flags were frequently spotted over the years.
Corbyn, who was pictured at an IHRC event as recently as 2016, has attended and spoken at a number of Al Quds Day parades.
This latest report cites examples of extreme Jew-hate found in the group such as remarks made at last year’s Al-Quds Day rally by IHRC Director Nazim Ali.
Emma Fox, author of the report, said: “The IHRC’s claims to be a human rights group appear to have lulled some into a false sense of security.
“We should be clear that this group is extremist, deeply antisemitic and has supported terror overseas.
“So extreme are its views and apparent conduct that, in my view, they warrant police investigation.”
A Home Office spokesperson said: “Any suspected instances of hate crime should be reported to the police who will investigate where appropriate.”
Labour and the IHRC have all been approached for comment.
