Gymnast Euro Champs to be held in Holon

Neta Rivkin finished the individual all-round final in 4th place

Israel has been awarded the rights to host the 2016 European Championships in Holon.

Competing against Bulgaria, both nations gave their presentation at the EC meeting held in January, with Israel formally declared winners last week.

The announcement came on the back of Israel completing an impressive performance at this year’s event in Baku, Azerbaijan, where they rhythmic team came close to winning two medals, finishing the “three balls and two ribbons” event in fourth.

Yuval Filo, Alona Koshevatskiy, Ekaterina Levina, Karina Lykhvar, Ida Mayrin and Lihi Shochatovitch had won an historic bronze medal in the all-around event.

Neta Rivkin missed out on a medal in the individual all-around final, finishing in fourth, while Victoria Veinberg Filanovsky finished the all-around competition in 12th.

The gymnasts next take part in at the World Championships in Izmir, Turkey, in September.

There was though a trio of medals for 15-year-old Linoy Ashram, who won three bronze medals in the junior competitions. She next competes at the Youth Olympics in Nanjing, China, in August.
