Hapoel Be’er Sheva have been knocked out of the Champions League after they were unable to overturn a 5-0 first leg loss on Tuesday night.

Needing nothing short of a miracle to overturn last week’s deficit, Nigerian midfielder John Ogu gave them a glimmer of hope when he headed home after 14 minutes, and Petar Stojanovic’s own goal 20 minutes later left their fans dreaming the impossible was still on.

However, second-half goals from Mario Budimir and Izet Hajrovic in the space of five second half minutes, ruthlessly ended its hopes, meaning they now drop into the third qualifying round of the Europa League, where they will face either Cypriots APOEL or Estonian side Flora Tallinn.
