The former head of the Zionist Federation and current chief executive of JNF is to take up a senior position at the United Synagogue from January.

Alan Aziz, who was unveiled as the new head of JNF only 18 months ago, is to become director of development, a new post created “to increase the resources available to fund a range of strategic initiatives”.

US president Stephen Pack said Aziz had 17 years’ experience at the heart of the Jewish community which “perfectly positions him for his new role”.

He said: “Alan exemplifies [the US] values and his enviable track record in connecting people with great projects will see his role as director of development transforming our community.”

Aziz said: “The US is at the heart of the Jewish community and the impact we can have by investing in it is enormous.

“There are so many new ideas just waiting to be funded that will transform the way people engage with their local communities and their Judaism.”
