The headteacher of a Jewish secondary school in London has emailed parents to reassure them that their children are safe following an undisclosed “allegation against a member of staff”.

In the message Hannele Reece, acting head at Kantor King Solomon High School in Barkingside, Ilford, told parents not to worry, as relevant systems were in place.

“After an allegation was made against a member of staff, I wanted to reassure all parents that the safeguarding policy and arrangements at our school are robust,” she wrote.

“We continue to do everything we can as a school so that all of our students feel safe and supported. I know that you will all appreciate that we are not able to comment further due to the nature of on-going enquiries.”

Kantor King Solomon is rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted whose last inspection report in 2016 stated: “The school’s arrangements for safeguarding are effective. Staff, parents and pupils all report that the students’ wellbeing is secure.”

The school’s students are trained on child sexual exploitation, with Ofsted noting “stringent checks on staff prior to their employment”.
