Hendon manager Adam Glekin was able to field the same starting 11 that performed so well in their previous match against Faithfold B, and buoyed by their recent good form the away side started strongly. They missed several good opportunities before Avi Mocton finally gave them the lead, smashing the ball home after a corner broke loose to him. More chances came and went until right on the stroke of half-time, a neat triangle saw Saul Cohen release Gideon Barth and he squared the ball to Hendon’s top scorer Benni Sluckis who neatly tucked the ball away.

Cohen has been instrumental in Hendon’s run of form, and he sealed the three points with a delightful free kick, curling the ball into the top corner from just outside the box. Jono Nesbitt added a fourth with his first goal of the season, and Jaimie Grossman also notched his first of the season to make it 5-0. The Lions scored a late consolation to deny Hendon their first clean sheet, but Sluckis completed the rout with his second and Hendon’s sixth with the last kick of the games.

Hendon manager Adam Glekin said: “It was another very pleasing performance, we dominated the game from start to finish and my only criticism is that we weren’t clinical enough, we should have scored 15 today with the chances we created. If it wasn’t so cold I’d have taken my hat off to their keeper, he was without doubt man of the match. I think most of our lads are relieved whenever we have an away game at the moment, our pitch is a shambles and it was nice to be able to string some passes together on a quality surface at Rowley Lane. It’s a shame we didn’t start the season playing like this, we’ve left ourselves too much to do in terms of challenging for the league but if we can take a minimum of nine points from our last four games we may have a shot at third place.”
