Hendon inch closer to title after beating Brady

Hendon United A moved a step closer to becoming Premier Division champions on Thursday evening, after they recorded a comprehensive 30- win over Brady A.

Yoav Kestenbaum, Yishai Last and Avidan Last were all on target for the treble-chasers, with manager David Garbacz telling jewishnews.co.uk: “Tonight we overcame a massive hurdle in our quest to win the title and remain unbeaten. We earmarked this game as a potential banana skin and we had to be at our resolute best to come away with the three points.

“In a closely fought first half, the decisive moment came when Yishai finished superbly on the stroke of half-time to give us a 2-0 lead, to add to Yoav’s opener. In truth we were fortunate to take that cushion into the break as Brady had given us no end of problems in the first half, but our defence had held up brilliantly with the two Kons,Rafi and Ben outstanding.

“In the second half we were far more comfortable and managed to see out the win with relative ease.

“We were buzzing after this result and the belief gets stronger every day that we are on the cusp of pulling off a remarkable feat. It was good of a few of the Norstar boys to come along tonight which only served to spur us on even more. We must remain level headed though – there is still a long way to go, but it is all in our hands and we fully intend to keep it that way until our final game of the season.”

Hendon have five league games remaining, and currently lie 12 points behind the leaders Norstar A. Their next match is on Sunday morning, when they host relegation-threatened London Maccabi Lions White.
