Here’s a date for your diary – December’s nice Jewish guy

Simon Winkler is the first nice Jewish guy from the UK to feature in the annual Nice Jewish Guys calendar, starring Jewish guys to bring home to mum.

When Simon Winkler found out he was going to be the first British boy to feature in the annual Nice Jewish Guys calendar, he was excited.

He knew it would make his Jewish mother very happy.

Aged 31, Simon was encouraged to apply for a spot in the calendar by friends.

He offered his Jewish mother as a reference and told the committee that one of his pet peeves was supermarket-bought hummus. He also claimed he served a “mean chicken soup” and admitted he makes homemade hot sauces that go well with falafel.

It was enough to secure the north-west London resident a spot in the calendar, that promises buyers a breakdown of the top 12 most eligible Jewish boys.

“I’ve known about the Nice Jewish Guys calendar for years,” he said. ‘My friends told me to apply, so I dropped them an email. I filled out a questionnaire and sent them some photos. They said they never had a British person in the calendar before.”

He added: “My mum was very proud of me, but she is proud of everything I do.”

Simon – a TV producer who has worked on comedy shows including Eight Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown and The Russell Howard Hour – will be the December face of the Nice Jewish Guys calendar next year.

“I’m relieved I got in there before my hairline started receding,” joked the comedy writer. “People can eye me up while eating latkes and doughnuts – a gift for all families next Chanukah.”

The calendar – which currently sells for £11.99 on Amazon – promises to showcase “100% bubbe approved” eligible Jewish bachelors.

Nevertheless, the former John Lyons school student says he is “no longer on the market” after meeting someone this year.
