Hoopsters hoping for medals at Euro Games

Team Maccabi GB’s U18 boys squad

The U18 boys basketball squad who will be representing Team Maccabi GB at the European Games in Berlin this summer has been announced.

The side made history at the 2013 Maccabiah Games as they won their first ever international matches (against Turkey and South Africa) to finish seventh overall and manager George Goldstone, together with Head Coach Craig Harris, will be hoping they can build on this achievement to claim a medal in Germany.

Speaking about the selection and his expectations for the EMG, Goldstone, said, “The team has a good mix of players with a range of abilities, from experienced national and local league players to younger players who are bursting with potential. Our focus is to play an active ‘team defense’ which should make us a tough outfit to score against in Berlin, and help us compete for a medal. Craig Harris, Marc Dinner (Team Manager) and I have all enjoyed representing Maccabi GB in the past, and we look forward to helping the players have their own meaningful experiences from a sporting, Jewish and cultural perspective.”
