Hopps hits double in comfortable Redbridge win

The Division One champions made it 15 wins from 17 games as they sealed a comfortable victory over Finchley City.

Finchley started off the better team, and if it wasn’t for outstanding goalkeeping from RJC B’s Scott Shear, Finchley would have been in front.

RJC B also had a high amount of chances to go in front as well, with Jack Van Gelder, Kane Hopps and Brad Gayer all going close, however at half-time the score line was 0-0, which was pretty fair reflection.

Finchley once again started off the half as the better team, and should have been 1-0 up with their striker missing a sitter from three yards out.

This gave RJC B the kick up the backside they needed, and halfway through the second half, they took the lead. Sam Moss, who has not played much this season, due to studying, was played in by player-manager Sam Rank, Moss showed great strength and pace to get in one-on-one, and buried his chance emphatically.

The role on and role off method, was used to great effort by assistant managers Johan Simberg  and Richard Stern with 10 mins to go. Jack Van Gelder and Kane Hopps were both brought back on and both were part of the goals that killed the game off.

With five minutes to go, Jack Van Gelder sliced through the Finchley defence and set up Hopps to double their lead with a composed finish.

Two minutes later the game was put beyond doubt when the same combination combined, Hopps again finished well to put RJC B.
