Immanuel College has become the first and only faith school in the UK to launch a specialist course to teach entrepreneurship to pupils.

The initiative, called the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy, will offer accredited enterprise courses and qualifications to teach children financial literacy and how to run their own business.

The independent school’s partnership with the academy, founded by Peter Jones of Dragon’s Den fame, hopes to bring “the boardroom to the classroom,” and teach students hands-on skills needed for the world of work.

Jones said he was delighted that Immanuel College was the first faith school to offer the academy.

“It is more important than ever to empower the next generation of business leaders, wealth-generators and change-makers with the skills to succeed in the world of work,” he said.

Sharron Shackell, the school’s director of sixth form, said she was “delighted” by the initiative.

“Students at Immanuel will benefit from small class sizes in a structured, nurturing environment with all the benefits of being part of a Jewish Sixth Form community,” she said.

“This diverse and hands-on course, which gives young people the experience, skills and knowledge needed to build long, successful careers, will be a fantastic addition to our curriculum.”
