Immanuel College announces new deputy head

Immanuel College has announced the appointment of its new Deputy Head, who will join the recently-arrived headteacher in an all-new leadership team.

Barnaby Nemko will take up his position as second-in-command at the private Jewish school, with headteacher Gary Griffin himself having only joined in September.

Nemko, who will be taking up the position on 1 June, at the Shavuot half term, began in informal education as Education Director of FZY before a stint at the BBC producing educational online content. However, he said: “My real calling was for the classroom.”

He has been charged with leading the management of the academic curriculum at the Bushey school named after Chief Rabbi Immanuel Jakobovits.

Nemko is leaving St Helen’s School in Northwood, where he is head of history and politics as well as internal development coordinator with responsibilities for professional development.

“We are thrilled that Mr Nemko is joining us,” said Griffin. “He comes to us with an excellent reputation from St Helen’s School who are very sad to be losing him.”
