IN PICTURES Jewish Child’s Day 2015

Onwards and Upwards was the theme of Jewish Child’s Day 2015.

It was brought to life when businesswoman-turned-philanthropist Dame Stephanie Shirley addressed more than 200 guests at the Avenue Ballroom in Regents Park Road.

The audience was captivated as Dame Shirley recounted her story of arriving in the UK in 1939 as a five-year-old on the kindertransport into the arms of strangers – stateless, penniless and without a word of English.

She urged guests to dig deep and support the work of JCD to ensure that every Jewish child the charity supports is given an opportunity to reach their full potential.

After dinner guests were entertained by The Four Sons, a group of young boys who started singing Jewish songs for charities when they were just 12 years old.
