In pictures: JNF branches out across UK

Those prolific tree-planters at Jewish National Fund (JNF) celebrated Tu Bishvat with two ‘Picnics in the Forest’ – complete with 70 Christmas trees.

Held simultaneously at Allianz Park in London and The Zone in Leeds, the twin events attracted hundreds of people, who enjoyed bouncy castles and soft-play zone, face painting, a petting zoo and kosher food. Guests were also invited to plant trees and eat fruit to mark the holiday.

JNF has planted over 240 million trees since it was founded in 1901, so for the organisation Tu Bishvat – the Jewish new year for trees – is a key calendar date. “Everyone who came had a fantastic time,” said JNF chief Alan Aziz. “It was great for all sections of the community to come together and celebrate.”
