IN PICTURES: MANNA’s annual Parliamentary reception

Poverty relief charity Manna Meir Panim held its second Parliamentary reception on Monday.

Sponsored by Bank Leumi UK, the sell-out event was preceded by a tour of the Houses of Parliament.

MC, Jewish News editor Richard Ferrer, opened the speeches by outlining his involvement with the charity.

Board member Mark Sabah then highlighted the charity’s work with Holocaust survivors before Nadhim Zahawi, MP spoke about how some people ‘fall between the cracks’ and need help.

Shadow Minister for Mental Health Luciana Berger reflected on the attacks in Israel, saying: ‘Political leaders must do all they can to restore calm.’ She also focused on the work of the charity and the fact that 36% of Israeli children live below the poverty line.

Jonathan Arkush, President of the Board of Deputies, brought the speeches to a heartfelt and passionate conclusion, speaking about the true meaning of tzedaka. He said: ‘This manna won’t come from heaven, it will come from us and our pockets.’
