Young and old enjoyed a range of activities ranging from face painting and bouncy castles to football and tombola at the fourth annual fun-day

More than 1,000 people together with their parents enjoyed a mixture of sun and fun as they raised in excess of £25,000 at Jewish Child’s Day Party@TheMall.

The fourth staging of the family fun day, but first held at JFS, participants, both young and old, enjoyed a range of activities from bouncy castles to face painting, arts and crafts to lazer zones, football skills and the ever popular tombola.

Nicole Gordon, JCD’s executive director, said: “The fun days we have run in previous years have allowed us to evaluate exactly what the children enjoy most. Every year we try to introduce some new fun up-to-date activities, with this year seeing a barbecue, which sponsored by the Kosher Deli, proved to be a welcomed addition not just for the kids but the adults too.”

Among the participants was eight-year-old Sydney Brookner. She said: “I had the best day ever and my favourite activities were definitely the chocolate tombola and the dare-or-do slide. I also really enjoyed having my hair braided and face painted, as well as watching the dance show that some of my friends are in. I will definitely be going back next time “

Aiming to raise much-needed funds for Jewish children in need around the world, Nicole added: “The wonderful thing about the event is that it is at the heart of what Jewish child Day stands for – kids helping other kids less fortunate than themselves “

“Overall, I would like to thank everybody who came along on the day to support Party@the Mall, the 100 volunteers through bough JVN and Jewish Child’s Day who gave up their time to help. The money we raised through sponsorship and takings on the day exceeded all expectations and I believe a fantastic afternoon was had by all who attended.”
