IN PICTURES: Young Jewish Care raise £150K for survivors

Jewish Care’s seventh Young Patrons Dinner raised £150,000 to support the Hendon-based Holocaust Survivors’ Centre (HSC).

Auschwitz survivor Freddie Knoller, 93, told guests how the support he received from the centre changed his life. “For 35 years, I never spoke a word about what had happened to me in the Holocaust,” he said.

“Once I began to speak about my memories, I wanted to be with other survivors and the only place I felt completely safe was the Holocaust Survivors Centre in Hendon. As we grow older, the services offered by the HSC are invaluable to us and that is why I am here tonight to ask for your support.”

Opening the evening, which was sponsored by Galliard Homes and Cain Hoy Enterprise UK, YJC’s Jamie Landesberg urged people to become more involved in giving time and money to the charity.
