Interfaith fun run to boost dozens of good causes

Hundreds of people from a range of faith communities are set to take part in second ever interfaith run following an initiative by a leading Jewish philanthropist.

Participants will see their pulses raised taking on a 10k, 5k or 1k course at the StoneX Stadium in Barnet – while also raising thousands of pounds for 50 good causes from local and national charities to interfaith groups.

The event is organised by the Faith & Belief Forum and Maccabi GB, whose annual Jewish community fun run inspired this event. Supported by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London’s Council on Faith, the gathering will also feature performances from a diverse range of faith and belief groups, activities for families and young people, food stalls and a picnic area.

David Dangoor, chair of Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London’s Council on Faith, who initiated the Fun Run project, said: “The Interfaith Fun Run is an opportunity for Londoners, whatever their ethnic group or faith, to come together and send a message of unity and friendship. It clearly shows the enormous amount of good this city’s diverse communities and cultures can do when we all work together.”

The inaugural event last summer saw over 500 attendees, 250 runners and thousands of pounds generated for 35 charities.
