Isaac Herzog meets Prince Charles on second day of UK visit

The Israeli president announced a new scholarship named after the prince's grandmother, Princess Alice

Israel’s president Isaac Herzog has held talks with Prince Charles on the second day of his official visit to the UK.

The two met in the autumnal setting of the prince’s Gloucestershire residence Highgrove House.

Israeli officials said they discussed the challenges of climate change, a topic in which both men have taken a personal interest.

Herzog also thanked the prince for his work to promoting Holocaust education and for taking part in the Fifth World Holocaust Forum in Jerusalem last year.

The Israeli president also announced a new scholarship at Hebrew University was to be established in the name of Princess Alice of Battenberg, the Prince of Wales’s paternal grandmother.

Alice is buried on Jerusalem’s Mount of Olives and is recognised as Righteous Among the Nations for saving Jews during the Holocaust.
