Israel arrests 10 Palestinians linked to teen protester Ahed Tamimi

Israeli soldiers have arrested 10 people from the West Bank village of prominent teenage Palestinian protester Ahed Tamimi, including a 15-year-old cousin with a serious head injury.

Mohammed Tamimi had part of his skull removed by surgeons after being shot at close range with a rubber bullet by Israeli troops on December 15. That incident reportedly led to 17-year-old Ahed Tamimi slapping and kicking two soldiers later that day.

Ahed Tamimi is on trial over the scuffle in the village of Nabi Saleh, with her case gathering international attention.

Mohammed Tamimi said he was taken from his home at 3am on Monday, despite pleas from his father that detention and exposure to cold could endanger his recovery.

He added that he was held for 10 hours in a cold cell, with his hands cuffed behind his back, before being released. He said he was interrogated about throwing stones at soldiers and organising protests, allegations he denies.

The Israeli military said it is looking into the incident.
