Israel moved to the top of its Nations League qualifying group after beating Albania 2-0 on Sunday evening.

Coming just three days after a 1-0 victory over Scotland, Andreas Herzog’s side made it two wins from two in Be’erSheva, thanks to goals in each half from QPR’s on-loan striker Tomer Hemed and substitute Dia Seba.

The opening goal arrived in just the eighth minute when a long punt upfield by goalkeeper Ariel Harush reached Hemed, who controlled with one touch before stroking the ball past Thomas Strakosha in the Albanian goal.

The points were sealed when Seba doubled the lead, his 20-yard deflected strike wrapping up the points, and taking them to the top of Group C1.

Israel now lead the group by three points, having played a game more than Scotland, who they face at Hampden Park on 17 November.
