Israel knocked out U19 Euros

Israel were knocked out of the UEFA U19 European Championships on Tuesday evening after they were comprehensively beaten 3-0 by Austria.

Having opened up their campaign with a 3-0 defeat by Portugal, Sinan Bytyqi converted his second penalty in as many games for the Austrians to go 1-0 up in the 28th minute, before Florian Grillitsch scored his first goal of the tournament minutes before the break.

Israel, as in their first defeat, showed spirit after the break, though substitute Valentin Grubeck wrapped up the scoring twenty minutes from the end.

The result means Israel are still looking for their first win, point and goal, though if they can avoid defeat against the hosts Hungary on Friday, will finish the table in third spot and qualify for a place at next year’s World Cup in New Zealand.
