Israel to host first Abraham Accords Esports Peace Games

Tel Aviv will host the inaugural Abraham Accords digital gaming tournament next year, with over £60,000 in prize money up for grabs.

Participants from the US, Israel, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Morocco will be part of an international delegation heading to Israel for the two-day Esports competition starting on 26 January.

The digital video-gaming championship was announced by the United States embassy in Israel, in partnership with Israeli-Canadian philanthropist Sylvan Adams, the Israeli ministry of foreign affairs, global investment bank LionTree LLC, and the Israeli Esports association.

National teams will contest leading competitors in a range of Esport gaming titles from across the globe.

Ido Brosh, president, Israeli Esports association said: “Israeli gamers have long enjoyed playing online with all peoples, fellow gamers, from all over the world, including the Middle East. To be able to welcome them to Israel is a true honor and a sign of how we share so much more than divides us.”

Co-chair of the games, H.E. Thomas R. Nides, US ambassador to Israel said: “This Esports tournament – the first of its kind – is one of many joint cultural activities being organised around the Accords, connecting with the region’s youth to make sure the Accords are sustantiable.”
