Israeli and UK universities sign £1.2m cyber security research deal

Haifa and Kent Universities are to combine their expertise in a major deal to tackle the ‘global threat’ of cyber security.

The Israeli and British institutions have signed a £1.2m joint cyber security research project, announced by the Cabinet Office in the UK.

It will consist of three bilateral groups tackling major areas of research, such as identity management, regulation, privacy, mobile and cloud, usability and cryptography.

Dr Orr Dunkelman, heading the team at Haifa University said: “Our project is about estimating the level of security offered by biometric systems, while concentrating on face-based systems.”

“We combine  our methodology with tools developed by Kent’s researchers, along with our expertise in computer security”.
