Israel’s diaspora minister Amichai Chikli has cancelled a planned visit to the UK this week amid the growing political chaos at home.

Israel’s minister of diaspora affairs and the minister for social equality was expected to arrive in the UK this week for meetings with a government minister, and with communal organisations, including the Board of Deputies.

But on Monday, Israeli government sources confirmed the meeting with the leading Likud Party member had been postponed.

Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu faced large demonstrations from Israeli and UK Jews when he met with Rishi Sunak in Downing Street last Friday.

An earlier visit by foreign minister Eli Cohen, who met with his UK counterpart James Cleverly, went ahead without issues on Tuesday.
