Israeli e-scooter start-up’s technology gets green light from UK

An Israeli start-up company producing electric scooters is preparing plans for a big expansion into the UK after it won British government approval for its technology.

Micromobility manufacturer LINK said it was looking at both London and Manchester after it got the nod from the Department of Transport, after launching in several US cities including Seattle last week.

It is the only Israeli company in the running to join the UK’s fleet of shared e-scooters, which the government hopes will help to reduce current levels of in-city car usage and urban pollution.

The manufacturers said the LINK scooter includes a self-diagnosis check before each use, plus “constant monitoring for vehicle performance and automatic mitigation of potential issues”.

LINK vice-president Haya Verwoord Douidri said: “Micromobility has great potential to transform how Brits move… Helping people get back outside, safely, is now more important than ever.”
