The Israeli embassy in London is understood to have complained to the BBC after one of its news reporters posted a comment asking ‘what’s wrong with Hamas?’

Becky Branford was identified as a BBC staff member by BBC Watch after she joined hundreds of others in posting comments after Jewish News published an interview with Jeremy Corbyn last week.

In the post, she wrote: “What’s actually wrong with Hamas? What have they done except resist occupation? Straight question.”

While Branford’s comments have since been removed, BBC Watch administrators said: “The fact that a journalist creating content for the BBC News website thinks there is nothing wrong with a terror organisation… gives food for thought.”
