Terrorists in the Gaza Strip linked to Islamic State launched two rockets deep into southern Israel during Succot, drawing an immediate Israeli response.

The volley of Grad rockets, fired on Tuesday night, were intercepted by the Iron Dome system. Hours later, Israeli jets hit back against several Hamas sites, with Army spokesman Lt. Col. Peter Lerner saying Israel holds the ruling party responsible for attacks.

Salafists from the Sheikh Omar Hadid Brigade, a group affiliated to Islamic State (ISIS), claimed responsibility for the rockets, fired hours after Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon said the principle of deterrence had worked.

“A year has passed since Operation Protective Edge,” he said. “Hamas is deterred and is dealing with internal challenges, including a number of Islamic State-affiliated groups which fire rockets from time to time.”

Meanwhile in London, Jeremy Corbyn won applause from a gathering of Labour Friends of Israel when he told the fringe event that “the siege of Gaza” should be lifted.
