Israeli official: No sane country would respond diplomatically to Iran’s attack

'Hezbollah elegantly ignored Biden's 'Don’t,' and so does Iran. It can't be expected that Israel will be the only one to whom this doesn't apply,' the official added.

Israel should respond militarily to Iran’s major drone and missile attack on Saturday and ignore calls to use diplomacy, an Israeli official has told Jewish News.

“No sane country would respond diplomatically to over 100 ballistic missiles and 60 tons of explosives fired at it,” the official said.

Israel is under pressure from the U.S., UK, France and Germany not to respond to Saturday’s attack, which involved 120 ballistic missiles, 30 cruise missiles and 170 drones.

“Hezbollah elegantly ignored Biden’s ‘Don’t,’ and so does Iran. It cannot be expected that the State of Israel will be the only one to whom this doesn’t apply,” the official added.

Despite 99% of the drones and missiles being shot down by Israel, Jordan, UK and U.S., Israel has vowed to retaliate.

According to Axios, U.S. President Joe Biden told Prime Minister Netanyahu to consider the highly efficient shoot down of drones and missiles “a win.”

“You got a win. Take the win,” he reportedly said during their phone call early Sunday morning.

Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations Gilad Erdan meanwhile called on the international system to sanction Iran over its attack.

“The snooze button is no longer an option. The only option is to condemn Iran and utilise every means necessary to make them pay a heavy price for their horrible crimes,” Erdan said.

Israel’s war cabinet met again on Sunday at 2:00 PM local time to discuss the options presented by the IDF for retaliation.
